Name: Romeo!
Hi my name is Romeo!
I’ve been honored to be the 2008 National Pet Idol, and runner up in 2007. My goal again this year is to spread awareness about all the dogs and cats that end up on the Euthanasia List in the Maricopa County and to raise funds for Arizona R.E.S.C.U.E who‘s sole mission is saving the animals on The List.
I am so lucky to get to live a pampered life with two other long-haired white cats in Los Angeles… but that’s not how things started out for me, not at all. I was found wandering the streets of Phoenix, very lost… I ended up in a Maricopa County Shelter, it was a scary place. Then I got sick, with this awful upper respiratory infection, my situation went from bad to absolutely dire – I was placed on the Euthanasia List with little time left to live.
In stepped volunteers from Arizona R.E.S.C.U.E; they pulled me from the shelter and took me to a Foster Home where I was nursed back to health! Over the next few months I got better and was not so scared.
Meanwhile, all the way in California, my new Mom had started looking for a cat, Eskimo, the cat who’d run her life for many years had crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Somehow my bio came up in a search, I am so lucky Arizona R.E.S.C.U.E took all those great pictures of me! The rest is history, I moved to California and my Mom adopted two other white cats and we all live together.
Last year, many people came together voting in response to my big Awareness Campaign - I was able to carry the message as National Pet Idol! We raised enough to help many dogs and cats at Arizona R.E.S.C.U.E.
Since 1995, Arizona R.E.S.C.U.E has rescued and placed close to 9,500 cats and dogs!!!
Please help their work continue, support Arizona R.E.S.C.U.E and VOTE ROMEO for 2009 National Pet Idol!
Maricopa County, where Phoenix, Arizona is located has one of the very highest Kill Rates in the United States – not a statistic to be proud of. This year, more than ever, with the tough economic times and home foreclosures, people are dumping record numbers of family pets at the Maricopa County Shelters – most never make it out – they are euthanized. The sole mission of my alma mater, Arizona R.E.S.C.U.E is to be the last chance for those animals slated to be killed. Please vote often!
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING ARIZONA R.E.S.C.U.E!!!!!
