Name: Tango - The Cowboy Dog Angel

Tango is quite a dog. My friends say he is a human in a dog's body. In fact he was caught watching CNN early one morning!

Hiking is one of his favorite hobbies. He bounded up Mt. Humphrey's to 12,800 ft while happily carrying his backpack. Tango has the most expressive face that lets you know he is in tune with the world. Jicama is his favorite treat. Growling is his preferred form of communication no matter the situation: happy, sad, angry, scared, playful, curious. He is a cattle dog and while he hasn't tried it yet, I'm sure he would make those l'il doggies get along.

He is easily slighted. Once after a camping trip we tried to adjust his pose for a photograph. He was wronged by his "rough" treatment and dropped to the ground, laying on his side, eyes small slits, barely breathing. Nothing would rouse him from his dramatic dead dog pose... a car ride, treats, pleading. He laid silent for 20 minutes while we took down camp and until we felt sufficiently bad.

He is the Dog Sheriff of Maricopa County and breaks up fights if he needs to. He is the Dog Fly Exterminator. He fearlessly protected me when a creeper hid in my bushes waiting for me after our walk one night. He brings a smile to every human's face with his direct eye contact, intent grin and tail wag.

The night before he was supposed to die the kind-hearted people of R.E.S.C.U.E. saved him and the world became just that much better in an instant. He is here to teach me something, I know that for sure. I am blessed that he came into my life and I work hard every day to make sure I give him the life that any Cowboy Dog Angel deserves.
